Mitrano campaign collects more than 5,000 petitions in NY-23

Tracy Mitrano

Democratic Congressional candidate Tracy Mitrano officially filed more than 5,300 signatures her campaign collected during petitioning in New York’s 23rd Congressional District recently. That is over four times the number needed to get her on the ballot for the June 26th 2018 primary and 50 percent of the number of voters who voted in the last Democratic NY-23 Congressional primary in 2012.

Mitrano and her Field team, comprised of hundreds of volunteers, have been going door to door to collect signatures in all of NY-23’s 11 counties since March 6. April 9 was the first day candidates were eligible to file their petitions.

Mitrano attributes the success of petitioning to the outstanding “people-powered” support behind the campaign who have rallied to help her bring economic opportunity back to the 97.5 percent rural-2.5 percent urban NY 23rd.

Petitioning is the first critical test for her campaign and her larger “Get Out the Vote” strategy moving into June. Earlier this year, Mitrano received the endorsement of both the Working Families Party and the Women’s Equality Party. She also received endorsements from Watkins Glen Mayor Sam Schimizzi, Tioga County Democratic Chair Diane Lechner, Ithaca Mayor Svante Myrick, Jamestown City Councilwoman Vanessa Weinert, and former NY-23 Congressional Candidate Karl Warrington.

Starting at $3.50/week.
