Community invited to Creative Sewing Program

A whole community — guys, gals, children, parents, teens, young and middle-age adults, and senior citizens — have been having a blast making their own special creations with fabric. You can too!
The CREATE Project is pleased to present the Creative Sewing Program which is held at the West Courtney Street Community Center, at the end of Maple Avenue (off West Courtney Street) in Dunkirk. The building is handicapped accessible.
Local master seamstress and quilter, Deborah Kuczynski presents the “Creative Sewing” workshops. She will share sewing techniques with beginners as well as sewers of all skill levels. Local sewers and quilters are invited to join the fun! Individuals will be asked what they want to make and Deborah will help them make it. Some ideas for beginner projects are a tote bag, a pillowcase, a placemat, or a vest.

Sewing machines are available for community use, but participants are invited to bring their own machines if they have them. The classes are free, but a $5 cash donation per session, paid directly to the instructor, is suggested. Everyone is welcome. Children are free, but need to be accompanied by an adult. For safety reasons, there will be no exceptions.
The time is 4-7 p.m. on Wednesdays on the following dates: June 27, July 18, Aug. 22

Questions may be directed to the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Chautauqua County (office: 366-1061), the CREATE Project Lead Community Partner. The CREATE Project is an arts-based community intervention designed to help the Dunkirk-Fredonia community embrace the goal to become free of child-abuse and neglect, and to become a place where children can grow to their full potential. The Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation is the fiscal umbrella agency for the CREATE Project. Though the organizations work cooperatively together, the CREATE Project is an independent entity and operates as such.
