Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Garden near completion
The Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Garden is nearing completion. It honors the 50th anniversary of the assassination of this great American hero. The Labyrinthine Ways Peace Park, located at 3129 Franklin Ave., will solemnly dedicate a plaque and diversity garden on Friday, June 22 at 6 p.m. in the Peace Park. All are welcome to attend and celebrate MLK’s achievements.
A brief biography will be read after the opening ceremony. The Park’s Proprietor, Peter A.T. Miller, will then read excerpts from the “Letter from Birmingham Jail.” Volunteers will then be asked to come forward and say something they hold dear concerning MLK, or read from his book, “A Testimony of Hope.”
The ceremony will take place come rain or come shine.
