Fence up for compost pile in Cassadaga
OBSERVER Photo by Gregory Bacon Cassadaga officials are still deciding if the fence will have open hours or stay permanently closed.
CASSADAGA — The compost pile is closed for the time being in Cassadaga. A fence has been erected and the village is currently in the process of installing security cameras for added surveillance to cut down on illegal dumping.
“Once we get the surveillance cameras in, then hours will be decided,” Mayor Mary Jo Bauer stated.
However, Superintendent of Public Works Sam Alaimo, believes that the current system that is in place might stay on as the new normal.
“I think it’s working now the way it is. The residents are happy,” Alaimo said.
Currently, residents place their branches and such in piles that get picked up off their curbs come Monday mornings. Nothing has been decided yet but will be discussed further.
