John T. Murray Post 1017 Auxiliary President receives honor

The John T. Murray Post 1017 Auxiliary recently met at the Post with President Pat Rabb presiding. An opening prayer was offered and the Pledge of Allegiance was led by Becky Addington, Chaplain. The meeting was opened and secretary Robin Richmond did roll call of officers and read the minutes, which were approved. Treasurer Pat Kibbe gave the treasurer’s report, which will be audited and filed.

The donation report form was read and acted on. Members reported on programs that they did, which will be reported to the state chairmen.

Standing motions were acted on and approved.

President Rabb attended the Department of New York Convention in Albany. The Auxiliary received the following awards: a certificate and monetary award, first place Americanism, Veterans and Family support, second place hospital. The Auxiliary also received a banner for 100 percent in membership. President Rabb received in the Auxiliary group “President of the Year” and received a Things Remembered engraved clock.

It was noted that the 6th district organizational meeting was held and President Rabb attended.

Ed Fik from Silver Creek VFW has been in contact with Rabb about going to the Buffalo VA to play bingo with coupon books that veterans can use at the store in the VA hospital. President Rabb is sending out letters to Chautauqua County VFW Auxiliaries to ask if they are interested in helping with this, not only for the donation, but helping Sept. 13. Volunteers must be at the hospital at 6 p.m. The auxiliaries will be supplying pizza, small bags of munchies, cookies and paper products. Any auxiliary member who is attending is asked to contact Rabb at 341-1328. Also those who would be interested in bringing lap afghans, socks, T-shirts, personal care items, writing materials, or items for the maternity department are welcome to do so.
