Laureate Alpha Pi holds annual family picnic

The Westfield Laureate Alpha Pi sorority held its annual family picnic June 9 at the Westfield Fish and Game club with a fun Luau party theme. The Westfield Laureate Alpha Pi sorority held its annual family picnic with a fun Luau party theme. Each party-goer received a lei as a welcome to the fun afternoon. The picnic was held at the Fish and Game club in Westfield.

The sorority furnished a delicious pulled pork dish and plates, dishware and paper products while each sorority sister contributed a prized dish to pass. Thirty-five total people were in attendance including 18 guests and 17 sorority members. Door prizes and lovely daisies were given to all party guests as a memento to take home.

2018-19 President Rose Corbran and Laura Ondreako hosted the picnic and provided a good time for everyone. The sorority raised money by having a yardstick auction game with sorority sister, Barb Van Dyke’s husband, Jimmy, acting as the auctioneer. Each family brought gifts wrapped and in the shape of a yardstick for interested bidders to take a chance.

The local chapter of the International Beta Sigma Phi sorority kicked off its annual year with Beginning Day on Aug. 20 which was hosted by the Executive Board to include, Rose Corbran, president; Linda Bennet, secretary; and Priscilla Malarkey, treasurer. Elena Marsala, vice president was absent.

The next meeting will be held Monday at St. Dominic’s church hall. Carol Best and Judy Stratton will be the hostesses for the evening meeting. In line with the annual International theme, “In the Qulit of Life, Friends are the Stitches that Hold It Together,” Elna Meleen, Carole Link and Carol Reynolds will provide a program about the, “Quilt of Loyalty.” Amy Begier and Lynn Stetson are responsible for the monthly service and social events.
