Transgender 101 public forum slated

JAMESTOWN — “Everything You Wanted To Know About Transgender, Non-Binary, and Intersex People…But Were Afraid To Ask!,” a public forum and panel discussion, will be held at Jamestown Community College’s Jamestown Campus from 6-8:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26.

The event is free and open to the public and will be held in the Student Union, located in the Hamilton Collegiate Center. Audience members will be encouraged to ask questions to gain a better understanding of those who are gender expansive.

Sponsors of the forum are JCC’s diversity committee, campus life program, political science department, and Pride Club, and Gender Equality New York (GENY).

The forum will be facilitated by Juli Grey-Owens, executive director and board chair of GENY, who is an advocate for transgender, non-binary, and intersex communities. She is the lead organizer behind the GENDA 2018 campaign which seeks to pass the Gender Express Non-Discrimination Act, a transgender civil rights bill in New York state.
