Fredonia ‘Brown Bag’ lecture to explore borders as political metaphors

The lecture “The Political Divide of Space. Borders (Walls) as Political Metaphors,” by Dr. Vassil Anastassov, who has worked for the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, will be presented in the Brown Bag lunch series at the State University of New York at Fredonia on Wednesday, Nov. 7, at noon in Williams Center Room S204-ABC.

Dr. Anastassov, an independent researcher in Bulgaria and author of “The Dynamics of Human Interaction” and “Power and Truth in Political Discourse,” has examined the problems of political divide of space and the relevant creation of ideological narratives. His scientific work also includes liberal democracy, nationalism and human rights.

The focus on walls — real or imaginary — as sources of conflict in Anastassov’s talk continues the year-long Brown Bag lunch theme of “Conflicts: Causes and Consequences.”

The Brown Bag lunch series is hosted by the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and is free and open to the public.
