Horse-drawn carriage rides set for Dunkirk

This year’s tree lighting and visit from Santa at the Dunkirk City Hall will include horse-drawn carriage rides beginning at D&F Plaza with our Annual National Small Business Saturday Event from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 24. Music will be provided by the Rockin’ Robin and Jackie Band. The Bear Lake Tree Farm will be participating at the Plaza with their top of the line Christmas trees.

Mayor Willie Rosas said of the upcoming event, “Kicking off our holiday season here in the City of Dunkirk with horse drawn carriage rides could not be more appropriate. This is our third small business Saturday here in the city and every year it gets better and better. Thanks to our Planning & Development Department and the Dunkirk Festivals and Special Events team for bringing this exciting addition to Dunkirk.”

The carriage rides will be available free of charge, but gratuities are welcomed. The rides will be at the Plaza between the hours of 2:30-4:30 p.m. and will continue from City Hall between 5. and 7 p.m.

“I am encouraging everyone to come out to our Small Business Saturday at the plaza, enjoy the first time horse drawn carriage Rides, and then join us at City Hall where my secretary, Carol Oliveira and I will be on hand to distribute free gifts and facilitate the raffles.” Mayor Rosas said.

Bring the children to the tree lighting ceremony and a visit with Santa. There will be plenty of hot cocoa, donuts and pizza in City Hall.

The Mayor stated, “Again, this event, the carriage rides, cocoa, donuts, pizza, and prizes have been provided by our many sponsors. We are grateful to Race World Organization for giving back to our community with the sponsorship of the horse-drawn carriage rides; Dunkin’ Donuts, Tim Hortons, Mary’s Deli, Best Western Hotel, City of Dunkirk, Dunkirk Chamber of Commerce, Owl Homes and all of the City employees who work hard for the residents of Dunkirk and have helped to make 2018 a wonderful year to remember. C’ya there!”
