City man faces weapons, drug charges after short chase
A Dunkirk man is facing drug and weapons charges after he led Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies on a short pursuit on Saturday morning.
Deputies attempted to stop a vehicle on Doughty Street near Lanphere Street for an observed traffic infraction. The driver did not comply and led officials on a short pursuit through the city of Dunkirk before 5 a.m. The pursuit ended at a local business and an occupant of the vehicle Alan D. Wasserman-Vega, 18, attempted to flee on foot.
After a short distance Wasserman-Vega was apprehended and taken into custody.
Through an investigation, Deputies found Wasserman-Vega to be in possession of two handguns along with a quantity of cocaine.
Wasserman-Vega was arraigned in court for the charges of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Wasserman-Vega was remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail on $40,000 cash $80,000 property bond.
