FRENCH CREEK – Two Erie, Pa., men reportedly caused hundreds of dollars of damage after driving their snowmobiles on a golf course at Peek’n Peak Resort, the New York State Police said.
Charged were 28-year-old Corey Kendig and 37-year-old James Winschel after receiving a report Tuesday that snowmobiles were being driven on the golf course, in violation of clearly posted “No Snowmobile” signs.
Kendig and Winschel were observed by witnesses allegedly causing “hundreds of dollars of damage to the course,” the state police said in a press release.
Kendig was taken into custody at the resort and issued appearance tickets to be in French Creek Town Court at a later date. Winschel reportedly fled the scene but was later found hiding behind the nearby French Creek Tavern.
The pair was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief and trespassing. Winschel was also charged with second-degree obstruction of governmental administration.
Winschel was processed at police barracks and taken to Chautauqua County Jail for arraignment.
