Westfield Fire Department announces December activity

WESTFIELD — The Fire Department of Westfield responded to 37 calls for service during the month of December 2018. Of those calls, 29 were for emergency medical services (EMS), with 13 of those calls being within the Village of Westfield and eight of them within the Town of Westfield. There were eight EMS responses to Absolut Care.

There were six fire calls in December. Three of those calls were in the Village. They included a response to East Main and Watson Avenue for power lines down, a smoke alarm activation at Better Baked Foods 25 Jefferson Street, and a CO Detector Activation at 61 North Portage. There was one fire call in the town for a tractor trailer brake fire on westbound Interstate 90. There were two mutual aid calls to Brocton both for a house fire at 8299 Route 380.

There was one motor vehicle accident in December which occurred on the New York State Thruway at mile marker 477.2 westbound.

There was one service call in the month of December for a tree in the road at 8001 Route 5.

The 37 responses in December was a decrease from the 44 responses in November. In 2018, the Fire Department of Westfield responded to a total of 604 incidents. This represents a slight increase from the 597 responses in 2017.
