The women of the Brocton Preceptor Beta Epsilon Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi celebrated Founders Day Thursday evening, April 25 at The Colony Restaurant in Irving.

President Gina Hesslink welcomed guests to Beta Sigma Phi’s 88th celebration of this event. Lois Smith gave the Beta Sigma Phi Grace following the Opening Ritual recited by all members. The Founder’s Day Pledge was read by Roxanne Fisk. A Founder’s Day letter from Laura Ross Wingfield, granddaughter of our founder Walter W. Ross was read by Hesslink. She gave the theme for the 2019-2020 year as, “The Power of the Dream.”

Judy Travis then announced this year’s “Woman of the Year” as Marie Zambotti. Zambotti exemplifies what Beta Sigma Phi is all about. She volunteers to help in every aspect of the organization and has served as Treasurer for many years. She is always a perfect hostess as she welcomes the group for the annual Christmas party and the year’s end Birthday Picnic every year. She is the head of the Social Committee and plans the sorority’s many events throughout the year. She has been a member for 27 years, joining in 1992. Travis presented her with a special Woman of the Year pin and she was congratulated by all of her “sisters.”

Following dinner, the Torchbearer Ritual was held for 40-year member Roxanne Fisk. She joined Beta Sigma Phi in December of 1978. The Rituals were read by Hesslink and Vice President, Nancy Furman. The Torchbearer Degree is the seventh Degree of Beta Sigma Phi.

At the conclusion, honoree Fisk was presented with a yellow rose and a beautiful special pin. All members congratulated her with the Beta Sigma Phi handshake and hugs.

A short meeting was held and the treasurer reported that the recent 17th St. Patrick’s Towel Bingo was the most successful one to date with more individuals attending and the most profitable. The group is most grateful for the wonderful support of the community that makes it possible to assist and donate to many individuals and organizations throughout the coming year.
