New ladder truck destined for city

This week’s Dunkirk Common Council will address the issuance and sale of bonds needed to begin the financing of a new ladder truck for the city of Dunkirk’s fire department.

The ladder truck will cost $1,251,636 and will be paid over a 10-year period in amounts of $125,163.60 plus accrued interest, beginning one year after the issue date and extending until the truck is completely paid off.

The council previously approved the truck purchase last month on April 16.

Also being discussed is the approval of $45,285 to be moved from the city’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds to address additional costs of the Seel Street Project. The public hearing for this took place on Jan. 7.

Other points of interest include six requests from area groups regarding various events in the city, five loud speaker applications and a notice of claim.

The city of Dunkirk’s Common Council meeting will take place today at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall.
