JAMESTOWN — Two people are being sought for an armed robbery of a convenience store Wednesday morning.

No one was injured in the hold up, which took place at 4:50 a.m. at Keystone Food Mart, 575 Fairmount Ave., West Ellicott.

A still image taken from surveillance video and released by the Ellicott Police Department shows the two men inside the store; one of the suspects is shown holding a shotgun.

Prior to entering Keystone, the men reportedly parked a white sedan (possibly a Nissan) on Howard Avenue behind the Salvation Army. According to police, the pair demanded money from a clerk, though how much was obtained wasn’t immediately known.

The men, believed to be Hispanic, fled after the robbery in the sedan. They were last seen heading toward Jamestown.

“Thankfully no one was injured,” Sgt. Matt Kubinski of the Ellicott Police Department told the newspaper.

A red hooded sweatshirt and green hat, similar to the ones worn by the suspects, were found lying in the middle of Todd Avenue by Jamestown police. The items were collected for analysis.

Other than the clerk, no one was inside the store at the time of the robbery. However, several witnesses who were outside spoke to investigators.

A K-9 unit from the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office was brought to the scene and later Todd Avenue. Officers from Lakewood-Busti and Jamestown assisted Ellicott police Wednesday.
