Fan receives fellowship from Library of Congress

Dr. Xin Fan

Xin Fan, assistant professor of history at the State University of New York at Fredonia, has received the Florence Tan Moeson Fellowship to revise his book manuscript on a world history in China at the Asian Division of the Library of Congress this summer.

“The Vulnerable Consensus: World History and National Identity in Twentieth-Century China” will offer an overview of the development of world history discipline in China, with a focus on the tensions between national identification and global outlook among Chinese historians, Dr. Fan said.

The Moeson fellowship provides compensation up to $3,000 to graduate students, independent scholars, researchers and librarians to cover expenses incurred while conducting research at the Asian Division of the Library of Congress, located in southeast Washington, D.C.
