Lake Shore High School announces new policies

ANGOLA — What’s new at Lake Shore High School this fall is evident from the moment you enter the building, which is nearing the end of Phase I of the district’s Capital Project.

“We are excited for everyone to see the renovation of our lobby and main office suite,” says Principal Christine Koch, “And we thank the community for supporting our much-needed face lift.”

The face lift is much more than cosmetic. The new layout is designed with a focus on security and efficiency for students, faculty and staff. “Visitors will notice an updated lobby with secure entrances into the building, and a new main office layout with a more efficient use of space allowing the addition of a conference room,” she says. “In addition, the Counseling Center has a very bright and inviting look where students can meet with their counselors and a new modern Health Center to support the health needs of our students.”

With various aspects of construction and security and safety initiatives ongoing, parents and visitors should take note of the following:

¯ Early morning drop-offs — Parents dropping students off in the early morning will need to use the entrance on the west side (the Tim Horton’s side) of the High School so students can enter the door on that side of the high school.

¯ After the day has started drop-offs — Students being dropped off after the day has started will need to be dropped off at the Main Entrance (facing Beach Road).

¯ Visitors to high school after the day has begun — Parents and other visitors should park on the north side (Beach Road) of the high school and enter the main rntrance.

¯ New this year: Parents picking up students during the day will need to enter the building with photo ID. Parents will need photo ID in order to pick up students.

With Phase 1 wrapping up, the main office area is back at its original location. The counseling center and health office also are in this space.

“We thank everyone for their patience while we were in transition,” says Mrs. Koch. “And we thank the community for supporting this effort.”

Phase 2 at the high school starts this spring with an addition for technology and athletics, along with renovations to the pool locker rooms, pool and gymnasium.
