Man injured in stabbing near bar

JAMESTOWN — Police are still investigating what led to the stabbing of a man late Wednesday.

The incident took place in the parking lot of the Bullfrog Hotel shortly before 11:30 p.m. The business is located at 1414 E. Main St., though the parking lot is over the city line in the town of Ellicott.

Initial reports indicted that a man had receive hand lacerations. However, once on scene officers learned the victim had been stabbed in the chest.

Det. Kevin Pierce of the Ellicott Police Department confirmed that the victim was treated by Alstar EMS and members of the Jamestown Fire Department before he was transported to UPMC Chautauqua. The unidentified man was then airlifted to UPMC Hamot in Erie, Pa.

An update on his condition wasn’t known Thursday morning.

People were searching for a man described as wearing a green shirt and jeans following the stabbing. No arrests have been announced.

A motive for the stabbing is not known, Pierce said. The incident remains under investigation.

Officers from Ellicott, Jamestown and the New York State Police responded late Wednesday and remained on scene into the early hours.
