CIAO Board of Directors met on Sept. 5 at the home of Nance Ortolano. Members addressed the issue, this year's picnic was not well attended as years in the past. Discussion of maybe changing the date of the picnic to a week earlier or later, but to take into consideration of what activities are happening at the same time. Possible dates of Aug. 1 or Aug. 8 were discussed. Anyone having suggestions as to a date or how to increase attendance is asked to contact Sam Crisanti at 934-2592, samcrisanti25@gmail.com or Nance Ortolano at 673-9177, nortolano@stny.rr.com.
The Federation of Italian Americans of Western New York, which CIAO is a member, is hosting their meeting at Ilio DiPaolo's Restaurant of the fourth Tuesday of September. If anyone is interested in attending the meeting please let Sam Crisanti know so he may make reservations. Dinners are pay as you go and cost around $20 per person. This would be a good activity to find out what other groups in our area are doing and possibly become a member of the CIAO board.
Back by popular demand, the Christmas party is going to be held at the Beaver Club on Dec. 8 at noon, with food being provided by Fred's. All members and guests are invited to attend. The price of dinners and the menu will be determined at a later date. Paid reservations will be required before the event. All members of the Beaver Club are welcome to attend. Checks will be mailed to Nance Ortolano.
Again this year, CIAO members will be asked to bring candy and treats to fill Christmas stockings for Willow Mission. This is our community service project and hope that all participate. Stockings will be available at the dinner for members to stuff. Lynda Mosher is chairing this activity.
Available at the Christmas Party will be a large map of Italy and Sicily where families can locate where their families originated. "Put your Family of the Map," the map of Italy and Sicily will be then be displayed at all CIAO public activities.
The next meeting will be Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 6:30 p.m. at Nance Ortolano's house.
