Stolen car stop leads to drug charges

GERRY — Two Jamestown residents are facing a number of drug charges after troopers pulled over a vehicle on Route 60 that was reported stolen.

State Police in Jamestown charged Caitlin Arnold, 27, with third-degree unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, second-degree unlawful possession of marijuana while she and passenger Rodney Townsel, 36, were charged with three counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia and two counts of possession of controlled substances.

While searching through her purse for her license, troopers allege Arnold exposed a bag of marijuana. Arnold and the Townsel were searched and the following additional items were located: a bag containing Amphetamine/Dextroamphetamine pills, a bottle containing Methylphenidate pills, two straws containing heroin residue and a glass smoking device containing heroin residue.

Arnold and Townsel were transported to SP Jamestown and processed. They were released with appearance tickets and are scheduled to be in the town of Gerry Court on a later date. The complainant was advised that her vehicle had been recovered.
