Collins Library kicks off ‘Library of Things’

COLLINS — You probably know that you can get books and movies from your local library, but how about a metal detector?

The Collins Library has begun offering a number of less traditional items in its collection, such as a turntable, karaoke machine, ukulele, button maker, and a number of board games. All of these items are free to check out from the library with an adult library card.

An official kick-off event for the program will be held Thursday, Oct. 10 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the library. There will be demos of the items available, and the “things” themselves can be checked out at the end of the evening.

These items were purchased with Bullet Aid funds procured by NYS Senator Patrick Gallivan.

The Collins Public Library is located at 2341 Main St. in Collins. Free library cards are available for anyone living or working in Erie County, and anyone living in the Gowanda School District. For more information about this or any of their programs, call 532-5129.
