LEARNING WHILE DOING: Students get water quality data
Submitted Photos
On Thursday, Oct. 3, students from Westfield Central School and Dunkirk Middle School participated in the “Day in the Life of Great Lakes Tributaries.” The students collected water quality data to help inform scientists about the quality of water that is flowing into Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. The work that the students did was in partnership with the Institute for Research in Science Teaching at SUNY Fredonia and the NYS Department of Conservation at Reinstein Woods. Grant funding for this work was provided by the Great Lakes B-WET initiative from NOAA. Anyone interested in learning more about this project can contact Dr. Michael Jabot, Director of the Institute for Research in Science Teaching at jabot@fredonia.edu.
