Christmas tree lighting and carol singing in Angola begins Friday

ANGOLA — The Angola Park and Gazebo Committee, in cooperation with The Friends of the Village and the Lake Shore Association of Christian Churches will host the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting and Carol Singing as follows:

Christmas Tree Lighting at Angola Commons next to the Library on Friday, Dec, 13 at 6:30 p.m.

Carol Singing at the Gazebo in Angola’s Centennial Park at 7 p.m. An instrumental group from Lake Shore Senior High School will provide music for the carols. The group is led by John Kresse. Song sheets will be provided at the Gazebo.

Following the singing, all are invited to the basement of UpDyke Hall in the First Congregational United Church of Christ on North Main Street for free refreshments. In case of very inclement weather, the carol singing will be held in the Church.

On Saturday, Dec. 14 between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., THE FRIENDS OF THE VILLAGE will present their 20th annual Christmas in the Village at the John T. Waugh School on High Street and throughout the Village. The day includes a free, hot breakfast for children, fire truck and horse and wagon rides, a bounce house in the school gym, face painting, air brush tattoos, balloons, basket raffles, a chance to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus starting at 9:30 a.m., and various events throughout the village. There will be 35 crafters set up in the auditorium at the school. A special 2:30 p.m. free movie, “Polar Express,” will be shown at the New Angola Theater sponsored by SASi.

All who visit various participating village businesses will have a free chance to win a 42″ LED TV.

There will be a parade of decorated fire trucks following the carol singing, weather permitting. Park committee members have recently decorated the Gazebo for the Christmas season.
