Bud ‘N Bloom Garden Club

The Bud ‘N Bloom Garden Club met at the home of Judy and Jim Wilcox on Route 60 in Fredonia for their November meeting. The home was ablaze with fall leaves, and quilted and stuffed replicas of Pilgrims, Indians and turkeys.

Plans were completed for the upcoming sale of 24 inch fresh Nobel Fir Evergreen wreaths. They are available from any member and will also be available at Christmas On the Lake Craft Show to be held at the Clarion Hotel in Dunkirk on December 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Lucy Hurley reported recently that profits from past sales were used in part to donate a tree planted at a Habitat For Humanity Home in the area. This was organized through the efforts of Mike Ricketts. Future sales will benefit area non-profit organizations.

The rest of the meeting was a busy workshop as members created (like Santa’s elves), hundreds of red, burgundy and Christmas red velvet bows to attach to the wreaths.

Wilcox provided a delicious pumpkin cake, assorted cookies, mulled cider and tea for refreshments. The centerpiece at the dining table consisted of yellow and orange mums, accented with fall leaves, wheat stems and assorted grasses.

The next meeting will be a holiday banquet, chaired by Sally Newell. It will be held at the Shorewood Country Club on Dec. 12 at 5 p.m. Members will bring a toy to be donated to the Rural Ministry for distribution to area children.
