Grand opening of CCRM’s Muriel’s Closet and The Book Shop Thursday

On Thursday, Chautauqua County Rural Ministry (CCRM) will open two new projects, Muriel’s Closet and The Book Shop. The grand opening will be held from noon to 5 p.m. at 319 Washington Ave. in Dunkirk.

Muriel’s Closet is in memory and honor of one of the founding members of Chautauqua County Rural Ministry, Muriel Adams. Adams was instrumental in the beginning years of CCRM and spearheaded many of the programs still offered today. Muriel’s Closet displays one of a kind items, antiques, jewelry and many other novelties, and proceeds from their sale will help continue CCRM vital programs. In essence, there is something for everyone. Muriel’s Closet will be open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will be run by volunteers. Refreshments will be available and the public is welcome to attend.

The Book Shop will also be open Thursday, Friday and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and each Thursday will have soup and sandwich available for a nominal donation. On display are many books and unique items for the community to enjoy.

During opening hours, there will be specialty teas and coffees for patrons to browse the books, use wi-fi, sit and relax. There will be many upcoming programs such as a book exchange, poetry reading, local music, a book club, etc..

If you would like more information on Muriel’s Closet or The Book Shop, please call CCRM offices at 366-1787 or stop by 319 Washington Avenue in the city of Dunkirk. The stores will be run by volunteers. To volunteer at either of the new projects, please let CCRM know. CCRM is a United Way of Northern Chautauqua County Community Partner.
