Fredonia Local Access Television was established with one goal in mind; To give the community a voice and a resource for sharing ideas, creativity, and a way to get connected with our community.

Did you know that Fredonia has a state of the art TV studio? Well it does, and the TV studio is in the Fredonia Opera House at 9-11 Church Street in Fredonia.

Have you been here before? If not, that’s ok, here is your chance! Fredonia Local Access Television is having an Open House Feb. 1 and it will be open through the intermission of the Gershwins’ “Porgy and Bess” live via satellite from NYC’s Metropolitan Opera and will open again before the evening film at 6:30 p.m.

Come on down and see the studio, hear what we have to offer and learn about volunteer opportunities. You’ll have a chance to see the equipment we use, see our edit stations and take a tour of the control room and studio. You may even have the chance to be a part of the crew of a “live” show being recorded that day!

The open house is a great opportunity to meet the producers, other volunteers and the staff to see what opportunities you might be interested in. Fredonia Local Access Television is looking for anyone who has an interest in TV production, editing and operating a camera. We need volunteers to assist on productions of shows originating right here!

“It is chance for people, both those interested in creating their own public access shows and those who simply want to learn more about public access programming, to do just that. We will be showing the different areas of our program, whether it is editing, working in the studio or being out in the field”, said Public Access Coordinator Chip Riewaldt.

The open house offers the opportunity to view renovations including a stage platform, studio backdrops, sound recording capabilities and a new edit suite.

There are a lot of great ways to get involved with Fredonia Local Access Television. You can get involved at the production level, shooting meetings or producing special programs. You can also get involved at the administrative level — helping with day-to-day operation.

During the year, Fredonia Local Access TV will be able to have workshops to instruct community volunteers, local non-profit groups and others to learn the various aspects of television production, including the operation of cameras and other equipment, directing and hosting programs and covering local events and public meetings. Training is also provided on an individual or group basis.

Through the workshops and trainings, attendees will learn to produce, write and tape their own local television programs for local access channel 1301. If you are interested in becoming public access television volunteer, you can register for the workshops at the open house.

Fredonia Local Access TV is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Your 100% tax-deductible contribution enables us to expand our programming, train new producers, modernize our equipment, and operate the studio in northern Chautauqua County that is free to the communities we serve. Public access television runs the gamut from government meetings and educational programming to talk shows, parades, and youth group activities and sports.

The open house if for all community members, not just those interested in creating their own show. People who want to volunteer with Fredonia Local Access TV, assist others in creating content or simply tour the new studio are all invited.
