GOWANDA — For the second consecutive year, Gowanda Central School District is participating in the torch relay for the Empire State Winter Games. Student representatives at all three schools will participate Monday, Jan. 27.

There are two torches that pass through various locations in New York State, ultimately meeting in the Adirondacks, where the Games will take place.

One of the two torches for the Games will arrive at Gowanda Middle School on Jan. 27, where there will be a gathering of students to welcome the torch followed by a send-off at approximately 8:15-8:20 a.m. where select middle school and high school students will take turns carrying the torch to Community Bank, N.A. (a sponsor of the Empire State Winter Games), downtown in the village.

The torch will also make a brief appearance at the elementary school before being taken to Orchard Park.
