Police seek car thief in Kiantone crash

JAMESTOWN — Jamestown police are searching for a man who reportedly stole a vehicle in the Kiantone area and crashed it Thursday morning in the city.

Capt. Robert Samuelson of the Jamestown Police Department confirmed police are looking for the person involved in the theft. The vehicle was reported stolen earlier Thursday before crashing into a pole at Foote Avenue and Harrison Street around 9:30 a.m.

The man involved in the incident then left the area, Samuelson said, noting that the person is known to police.

“(He) walked away south from the scene on Foote Avenue,” Samuelson said. “We are searching for him now.”

The New York State Police is also investigating.
