Resident hospitalized after city house fire

There was a house fire on Mullet Street in Dunkirk Sunday evening. Reported at about 7:30 p.m., the fire started in the living room, said Dunkirk Fire Chief Michael Edwards, and the Dunkirk Fire Department was able to arrive on scene in time to prevent the fire from spreading throughout the house. However, there was significant smoke damage. The resident was transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation and a cat and dog were both being treated on scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
