First coronavirus confirmed in Western New York

A Rochester-area person has been confirmed as having the coronavirus, according to the Democrat and Chronicle in Rochester.

According to the newspaper, the person was “recovering nicely” at home and has no connection to students currently in quarantine at the State University College at Brockport. The individual had traveled from Rome to JFK on Tuesday and then ground transport to Rochester. He arrived in Rochester Wednesday night.

Officials say the are confident this is not a significant risk to public health in Rochester or the county.
