Fredonia Place requiring temperature readings

Are you planning on visiting friends or family at Fredonia Place? It is still permitted, however plan to have your temperature taken if you do.

On Thursday, Nicholas B. Tzetzo, Managing Partner, announced precautions their assisted living facility is doing in lieu of the coronavirus, which is particularly dangerous for older adults.

In an email, he stated they have “taken substantial steps in advance of any New York State Department of Health requirements to insulate our community from the dangers of the COVID-19 coronavirus.”

Some of the points he highlighted include:

1. Increased food and potable water reserves to prepare for any interruptions in deliveries;

2. Increased inventories of cleaning and decontamination supplies, and increased cleaning frequency to minimize or eliminate any harmful pathogens;

3. Streamlined applicable team member responsibilities from both facilities to a single facility to preclude the possibility of a pathogen spread between facilities;

4. Require all team members to take daily temperature checks to ensure that they pose no COVID-19 threat to our community;

5. Require all team members to self-quarantine for 14 days should they visit a region or country designated a Level 3 risk by the CDC;

6. Require all visitors to Fredonia Place facilities to electronically take their temperature and complete a COVID-19 questionnaire before entering the building and immediately sanitize their hands upon entering the building;

7. Require all recurring, engaged construction contractors to electronically take their temperature and immediately sanitize their hands upon entering the building;

8. Discourage all non-essential resident travel out of their homes in the facility as well as non-essential visitors;

9. Regularly take Resident temperatures to ensure no fever symptoms that could indicate sickness.

Fredonia Place has also advised their residents to take the following steps to protect themselves:

1. Sanitize hands often by washing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after being in a public place or blowing nose, coughing or sneezing. If soap and water is not readily available, Residents are instructed to use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol;

2. Avoid close contact with others and position at a distance from others;

3. Immediately notify a member of our team if he or she is feeling unwell, regardless of the symptoms.

“We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and take whatever measures are necessary to protect our community. Thank you in advance for your cooperation, and particularly for placing your trust in us,” concluded Tzetzo.
