Lakewood man charged after ride, threat

ELLERY — A Lakewood man is facing numerous charges after taking a ride in another person’s vehicle and threatening an individual.

Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies around 7:45 a.m. Sunday responded to an address on Fluvanna Townline Road for a complaint. Further investigation found that Nathan E. Manhart, 44, took another person’s vehicle without their permission. Manhart drove the vehicle to an address on Cherry Hill Road in the town of Harmony where he verbally threatened another person, and drove the vehicle in a reckless manner with a child passenger inside of the car.

Manhart was located at the address on Fluvanna Townline Road and was taken into custody. He was charged with third-degree unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, second-degree aggravated harassment, and endangering the welfare of a child.

Manhart also had active warrants for his arrest for second-degree attempted burglary, third-degree criminal, fourth-degree criminal mischief, second-degree aggravated harassment, and second-degree harassment. Manhart was taken to county jail and will answer his charges on a later date.

New York State Police assisted in the investigation.
