TRC health center open, providing telehealth

More people are utilizing the availability of telehealth services for TRC Community Health Center’s primary care and behavioral health services. The Resource Center’s clinical services remain open to serve the public during the Coronavirus epidemic.

TRC Community Health Center, which provides primary medical care, behavioral health, dental and health-related services, is continuing to provide many services to the local community during the ongoing COVID-19 (Coronavirus) crisis, both at its office locations and through telehealth.

The primary care medical services at TRC Community Health Center, 890 East Second Street in Jamestown, remain open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Staff are following all New York state Department of Health/Centers for Disease Control protocols regarding patient care. Brief health screenings, which include taking temperatures and asking a few questions, are being conducted prior to permitting staff or patients into the waiting room, in order to minimize exposure. Physicians also can provide services via telephone or videoconference so patients do not have to come to the office. These options can be discussed when scheduling an appointment.

Upon the advice of the American Dental Association, the Dental Offices in Jamestown and Dunkirk have temporarily suspended all non-emergency services. The Jamestown office at 890 East Second Street remains open to address dental emergencies.

To meet the community’s behavioral health needs, the Counseling and Psychiatric Services offices are continuing to see clients at the 890 East Second Street location and at 186 Lake Shore Drive West in Dunkirk. People are encouraged to use telephone and video counseling and psychiatric services, which are being offered to people who are displaying symptoms as well as those who prefer to stay at home and not have to travel. Counseling and psychiatric staff are available at both locations for any walk-in crisis appointments.

“At this time, it is important that we all try to maintain social distancing to lessen the spread of COVID-19, but please remember that here at TRC Community Health Center we are here to stay in touch with those struggling with anxiety and depression,” said Nicole Mucheck, Director of Behavioral Health Services and Care Coordination. “This is a very challenging time, but a regularly scheduled counseling or psychiatric session could help you maintain connection during this stressful time.”

Physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy continue to be offered at the Lake Shore Drive location and at 75 Jones & Gifford Avenue in Jamestown. Patients are being screened for fever prior to the provision of services. All equipment and surfaces are being sanitized between appointments. Chairs in the waiting room have been separated consistent with social distancing guidelines.
