Barbara Fay running for Westfield School Board

Barbara Fay has announced she is running for a seat on the Westfield Academy and Central School Board of Education.

She, along with my husband Ron Almeter and their three children, live in the village of Westfield. Their oldest daughter graduated from Westfield Academy and Central School in 2019 and their other daughter and son will graduate this June 2020.

They relocated to Westfield in July of 2016, purchasing a long- neglected property in need of much TLC. “After almost 4 years of investment and much personal toil and effort we can call it our home as well as a Bed and Breakfast establishment. We are committed to it and to the area,” she said.

Fay noted that upon arrival, she became involved in the community. “I am a member of the Westfield-Mayville Rotary, an active participant at St. Dominic/St. Patrick Catholic Church, and was the secretary of WACS Parent Connection for three years. I am on the WACS Health and Safety Committee and served on the Middle States Accreditation and Superintendent Search committees. I have volunteered at various activities at the school and remain engaged,” she said.

Having come late to marriage and parenthood, Fay has educational criteria and many years of work experience behind her. She earned an Associate Degree in Retail Merchandise Management from Alfred Ag & Tech; a BS Degree in Business Administration from Arizona State University and an MBA in Finance from RIT. She has over 25 years of experience in: Purchasing, Production Planning and Scheduling, Government Bids & Proposals, Engineering Budget Administration, International Sales Order Administration, and Functional Consulting for Software Implementation. She currently works seasonally in the ticket office at Chautauqua Institution.

“WACS is a quality school and a quality school is the catalyst for a good community. It is an inviting and nurturing place for our children. It provides the foundation and essential skills for their advancement. It stimulates their interest in the broader environment. It enables them to be productive adults. It serves as a resource for residents. It is what causes people to move into or remain in the community of Westfield. It motivates employers to locate in the area,” she said. “I have volunteered at WACS since arriving in Westfield and am interested in serving on the Board of Education to support the ongoing efforts that make us a quality school and good stewards of community resources. I have had the benefit of being able to be involved over the years at my children’s schools, and the experiences have been most rewarding. With their graduation approaching, I see BOE service as an avenue to stay engaged and involved with our school. Thank you for your consideration.”

Starting at $3.50/week.
