County reports 8 new COVID-19 cases

The Chautauqua County Department of Health on Friday reported eight new cases of COVID-19, of which one resides in Brocton, two in Fredonia, two in Stockton, two in Dunkirk and one in Cassadaga.

There remains 56 active cases for those who continue to recover under orders from local health officials. Further, there are three active cases among employees — and two active community contacts — of Fieldbrook Foods Inc. in Dunkirk; 82 people associated with the manufacturing plant have recovered.

The county Health Department said there are currently 10 active cases among students at the State University of New York at Fredonia.

As of Friday, there are 279 county residents under quarantine/isolation. Not all of those being monitored are confirmed to have COVID-19 but have either shown symptoms, are awaiting results or have risk factors.

In addition, 28 people remain under domestic traveler quarantine as well as two hospitalizations, 536 recoveries, 10 deaths, 602 total confirmed cases and 40,344 negative test results.
