Dunkirk to hold Christmas tree lighting Saturday

OBSERVER Photo by Jo Ward Dunkirk City Hall is getting ready to light up the tree Saturday.

The Christmas tree lighting at City Hall in Dunkirk will be a bit different this year due to the pandemic.

“Due to COVID we’re not going to be doing what we normally do, but we will have a special tree lighting on Saturday,” Mayor Wilfred Rosas told the OBSERVER. “We’ll be lighting up City Hall and showing some Christmas spirit. We want our community to know that although we have restrictions in place due to the pandemic we still wish them all a merry Christmas and we have Christmas spirit here in our community and the city of Dunkirk.”

Residents and visitors are welcome to come down at 5 p.m. and listen to the mayor as he turns on the lights. The event will be short, only about five to 10 minutes. People are asked to please social distance, wear masks and help ring in the holidays together.
