Cassadaga Legion Auxiliary Unit 1280 holds meeting

CASSADAGA — Cassadaga Legion Auxiliary Unit 1280 held its regular monthly meeting at the legion post recently with 10 senior members attending.

Six officers were present. Guidelines were followed according to the governor’s protocol; masks were worn, social distancing was observed, and sanitizer was available.

President Lauren Sharp opened the meeting in regular fashion with the Pledge of Allegiance, the Preamble, a moment of silence for fallen soldiers and a prayer from Chaplain Paula Pattison. Secretary Carol Baker read the previous meeting minutes; one correction was made; a motion was made and seconded to accept as corrected. In the absence of treasurer Sue DeGolier, there wasn’t a financial report. Correspondence was read by Sharp.

Reports by the committee chairs were as follows:

For Leadership, it was noted that at least one Unit 1280 member wrote letters to the local state Representatives stressing the importance of the local need of the school aid the money that is slated to be cut by 40%. Local schools depend on that money to function properly.

The village “Winterfest” celebration is in the works for early February. Auxiliary members discussed what they could do to participate. Sharp is to talk to the event planners and participation will be planned at the January meeting.
