County legislature OKs reconfiguring Luscombe Aircraft rent payment

A company at the Chautauqua County Airport in Jamestown has been given the OK to reconfigure its rent payments.

During Wednesday’s legislature meeting, county lawmakers unanimously agreed to modify its lease with Luscombe Aircraft Corp. This will permit the company to increase its rent reduction credit from $500 to $1,000 to allow the company to make needed capital improvements to the hangar at the county airport in Jamestown.

The maximum amount of rent credits remains unchanged at $48,000. The company’s current contract pays the county $1,350 a month in rent. If the company claims the entire rent credit it is requesting, rent would decrease to $850 a month.

County legislator Lisa Vanstrom, R-West Ellicott, voiced support for the resolution, adding that she is excited the company is coming to Chautauqua County.

“The mighty Luscombe Aircraft Corp. has a great history and a very good reputation and I wish them the best in their future successes,” she said.

Legislator John Hemmer, R-Westfield, agreed. “This resolution is a win for the county as well as a win for the Luscombe Aircraft company. The end result of the improvements that they’re planning will provide a better equipped hanger for our Chautauqua County Airport at Jamestown as well as helping this company to overcome the economic hardships caused by the current COVID crisis,” he said.
