An assortment of drugs, including a purported marijuana grow operation, along with ammunition and cash were discovered at a Jamestown residence early Thursday, part of an going narcotics trafficking investigation nicknamed “Operation Crazy Ivan.”

The latest search took place around 6:10 a.m. at 211 Hazzard St., according to the Jamestown Police Department in a news release. Inside investigators found more than 8 ounces of powder cocaine, anabolic steroids, a marijuana growing operation, scales, packaging materials, ammunition, a money counter and $4,587 in money.

The Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force were assisted by members of the Ellicott Police Department, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, Jamestown Police Department SWAT Team and Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force.

No charges or arrests were announced following Thursday’s execution of the warrant on Hazzard Street.

Several pounds of marijuana, dozens of guns and thousands of dollars also were recovered during a series of multi-agency searches last week in the Jamestown and Falconer areas. “Operation Crazy Ivan,” named after the 1990 flick “The Hunt for Red October,” is a years-long effort to halt the trafficking of drugs and weapons in the region, JPD noted.

At a 209 West Ave. residence in Falconer, investigators last week recovered “several pounds of marijuana,” more than $5,000 in cash and two loaded shotguns. The search of a home at 2585 S. Work St. in Falconer resulted in the recovery of 20 firearms, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, cocaine, marijuana and money.

A Route 394 business in Kennedy also was searched after a warrant was obtained, though a news release did not specify what, if anything, was recovered.

“Federal drug trafficking, weapons, and money laundering charges are possible, pending further investigation,” Capt. Robert Samuelson of the Jamestown Police Department said last week. “This group has been rooted in our community for years and has financially benefitted from this illegal trafficking operation greatly. This step that was taken by law enforcement is a large step towards slowing down the influx of illegal narcotics into the Jamestown area.”
