Fredonia lifts order on water

The conserve water order in Fredonia was lifted Friday around noon following two main breaks on Thursday in the village.

“Earlier this morning before noon both water main breaks were fixed, we waited until the second one was done. They’re both repaired and the conserve request is now canceled. Our water is safe to use and residents may use water at their regular pace now,” Mayor Doug Essek said in an e-mail. “Residents may still experience a little bit of brown or discolored water for a short period of time, but that should clear up.”

The break on Main Street happened around 3 p.m. Thursday. During the same time ,the village was suffering from a second smaller break on Gardner Street.

In an email Thursday the conservation request was until further notice. Motorists also were asked to avoid East Main Street near Route 60 where the largest break occurred.
