SINCLAIRVILLE — A coal stove in close proximity to wood building material reportedly sparked a large fire that destroyed a multi-story garage Friday afternoon.

Crews were alerted to the blaze at 6906 Route 60, south of Luce Road, near Sinclairville around 2 p.m. Officials on scene reported that the multi-story garage — used to work on semi tractor-trailers — was fully engulfed in flames.

Heavy fire and smoke could be seen coming from the property in video and photographs posted to social media.

Firefighters from Sinclairville, Cassadaga, Gerry, Stockton and Fluvanna were called to the scene. County fire coordinators and fire police were requested as well.

Officials on scene reported hearing “several explosions” coming from the structure, which was completely destroyed in the blaze.

The cause was determined following a review by the Sheriff’s Office Fire Investigation Team.
