Winter weather advisory will remain in effect

A winter weather advisory remains in effect for Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties until 10 a.m. Friday.

According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, lake effect snow and blowing snow is expected. Some areas could see between 3 and 5 inches of accumulation in addition to winds gusting as high as 35 mph that will produce blowing and drifting snow.

The greatest accumulation is expected across the Chautauqua Ridge.

“Plan on snow covered and slippery road condition,” the weather service said. “Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions will likely impact the morning commute on Friday. … Lake effect snow will fall in relatively narrow bands. If traveling, be prepared for rapidly changing road conditions and visibilities.”
