BROCTON — Firefighters from several departments were called to a fire reported Tuesday evening on Main Street in Brocton. The blaze was reported after 8 p.m. Crews from Brocton, Portland, Westfield, West Dunkirk, East Dunkirk, Stockton, county fire coordinators, county fire police and the county FAST Team all responded to the scene. A potion of Route 20, between Lake Avenue and Old Mill Road, was closed to traffic. The cause of the fire was speculated by those close to the situation to possibly be tied to a furnace. Those on social media also said a pet bird may have died while those living in the structure were able to get out.
