JCC North County Extension Center returns to in-person

SUNY Jamestown Community College’s North County Extension Center in Dunkirk has returned to in-person operations.

Student services available through the center have operated remotely since March 2020. The center, located at 10807 Bennett Road, had been closed to the general public due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Our staff has done tremendous work in continuing operations and offering services remotely to our friends, neighbors, and students in northern Chautauqua County over the last 15 months,” said Beth Starks, director of the North County Center and Career Advantage. “We’re excited now to welcome them back to our physical location in Dunkirk and assist them in their future plans.”

Currently, staff at the center are able to assist students and community members with enrollment and applications for the fall semester and additional student services, such as business office, financial aid requests, advisement, and counseling. The center’s computer lab is also available to students enrolled in any of the college’s classes this summer.

The North County Extension Center offers a variety of academic and workforce courses as well as training services to area residents and businesses. Starks, a former assistant professor and coordinator of early childhood education, was hired to oversee the site, as well as the college’s Career Advantage initiative, in May.

Those in need of assistance are encouraged to call the center at 716.363.6500. The center is open Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
