History Fair lineup for Saturday announced

SINCLAIRVILLE — The village will once again be a busy place on Saturday, Sept. 11, when the annual history fair returns after missing last year.

This is the 22nd year presenting the fair. Valley Historical Society president, Larry Barmore, says that a fun day is planned for all. The day will start off with a Memorial Service at 9:30 a.m., honoring those who came before us, followed by the Grand Parade at 10 a.m.

Many entries are expected from around the area. There are a record number of craft vendors who will sell their wares in the park from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will also be several food vendors scattered about the park.

The library will be a fun place for all as it presents Mark Parsons, magician, Nan Hoffman, and Joe Tumino singing our history and Pat Pihl with a historical “show and tell.” The library will also have its 150th anniversary history booklet available for a donation of $5 or more.

Musical group Elixxir will perform in the bandstand at 11 a.m. followed by the Jamestown Harmony Express at 1:30 p.m. The popular country band, The Rustic Ramblers will be under the tent from noon to 3pm. Returning for the second year will be a karaoke contest at 3 pm. This event drew a large crowd in 2019. There will be $300 in cash prizes given to the winners.

There will be a classic car cruise-in at the village hall also including motorcycles and farm tractors. There will be trophies given in each category. A large turnout is expected.

The ever popular “Beautiful Baby Contest” will be at the firehall at 11 a.m. This is for all babies under 2 years old. Grandma’s Fruit Pie contest also returns to the firehall at 11a.m. Entry forms and rules are available at the library and superette. The all-breeds dog show, sponsored by Purina, will be at the firehall at 3 p.m.

Betty Jean Ridout will host a historic tour of Evergreen cemetery at 2 p.m. This year attendees will board a wagon with seats and will ride through the cemetery as the history is given about the people that were important to Sinclairville’s past.

There will be free rides on a horse drawn wagon and there will be inflatables available for the younger set. At 5 p.m. a street dance with the band, Smokehouse will take place under the large tent. A fireworks display will end the day at 9 p.m.

As always, all the events are free, there are no entry fees for the contests and there is no charge for parking. Come enjoy a day of fun. Your only cost is for food and crafts if you choose to buy some.
