Kozlowski new city Board of Ed head

Kenneth Kozlowski is the new president of the Dunkirk Board of Education.

Fellow board member Robert Bankoski nominated Kozlowski to replace David Damico at last week’s board meeting. The board unanimously agreed.

Kozlowski immediately took his oath of office and chaired the rest of the meeting. Vice President Claudia Szczerbacki had opened the session.

Damico resigned from the board, effective Jan. 1, because he began his term that day as councilman-at-large on the Dunkirk Common Council.

There was no word Tuesday on the board’s efforts to replace Damico. The board had planned to conduct private interviews, a move that did not sit well with open government advocates.
