Karen Lee (General) Nephew (Snipe Clan)

Karen Lee (General) Nephew (Snipe Clan), 80, passed away peacefully on Feb. 6, 2022. She was surrounded by family, at the home of her daughter, in Charlotte, N.C.

Beloved wife to Richard K. Nephew for 62 years; loving mother to Mareena (Daphne) and Kristine (Martin). She is survived by her brother, Arthur General; and many nieces and nephews. She cherished her grandchildren: Christopher (Jaye), Catherine (Chris), Cherie and CJ. She adored her great grandchildren: Dwight and Hudson.

Preceded in death by her beloved son, Kebin (Willie); her parents, Tremaine, and Lillian (Huff) General; her sisters: Lorraine Rivera, Elaine Santiago, and Barbara Kennedy; her brother, Tremaine Jr. General.

She retired from the Department of the Interior in 1991. Her passion was oil painting and caring for her plants and flowers. Her hobby was collecting antiques and Native artifacts. She lived in numerous places throughout the United States before returning to the Seneca Nation Territory. She was a member of the Four Corners United Methodist Church and taught Sunday school for several years. She was also a member of the American Indian Society Women’s Softball team and enjoyed bowling with the Native Community in Virginia.

Friends may call Monday and Tuesday at the family residence 12297 Burning Springs Road, Cattaraugus Seneca Territory. Services will be held Wednesday at Four Corners United Methodist Church 1586 Route 438 Cattaraugus Seneca Territory at 11 a.m. Please assemble at church.
