United Seniors meet again June 13
The United Seniors met at the Kosciuszko Club, in Dunkirk on May 9. The organization had 31 members in attendance. and one welcomed guest, Sally Jo Wright. Evonne Heneberry led the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag and the invocation. Then everyone sang, “God Bless America.” Birthdays were Delores Borrello, Delores Campbell, Patricia Ebert, Lucy Saeli, Linda Schauer.
Heneberry did talk about her recent trip to so many wonderful places. She had a river cruise in Belgium and explained how wonderful and interesting everything was, all the beautiful flowers, and fascinating scenery, friendly people. She didn’t have enough time to talk about everything, there were so many places she visited with interesting stories.
The organization is sending out invitations for new members to join.
Its next meeting will be June 13. The menu will be as follows: breaded pork chops, (beef on weck), au gratin potatoes, tossed salad, mixed vegetables, and roll. cemetery tour set for Saturday
CHERRY CREEK — A historic cemetery tour in Cherry Creek will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday. Those attending should park at the gravel pit. A walking tour guide is provided.
Poetry is focus of library events
SINCLAIRVILLE — The Sinclairville Free Library presents “Never Stop Asking for Poems,” a poetry reading by Michael Czarnecki, on Thursday, June 2 at 6:30 p.m. Local poets are invited to read from their works following Czarnecki’s presentation. On Friday, June 3 from 10 to 11:30 a.m., Czarnecki will lead a writing workshop. These events are free and open to the public.
Czarnecki is a poet, small press publisher and oral memoirist who grew up in Buffalo and now resides in the hills of upstate New York. He has been making his living solely from the creative word for over a quarter of a century.
