Fredonia church installs new pastor
Pastor Matthew C. Schettler was installed Sunday, June 19 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 334 Temple St., Fredonia. Schettler is excited to begin to serve the saints at St. Paul and the surrounding communities of Fredonia, Dunkirk, Brocton and SUNY Fredonia.
His ministry began on the southside of Chicago where he served for three years as pastor of Resurrection Lutheran Church. He is passionate about proclaiming the life-changing, life-saving Gospel of Jesus Christ with all those he comes into contact with.
Schettler is a 2014 graduate of Concordia College in Bronxville, New York and a 2019 graduate of Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Ind. As part of his seminary training, he served his vicarage year at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Baltimore, Md.
A Western New York native, Schettler is delighted to be continuing his ministry on his home turf while exploring all that Chautauqua County and the lakeshore region have to offer. He is a lifelong, long-suffering Bills and Sabres fan, enjoys hiking and Western New York history.
Services are every Sunday beginning at 9 a.m. (summer hours). Communion is the first and third Sundays.
