Cattaraugus County man indicted for first degree child sex abuse

Allen D. Larkin Jr.

A 34-year-old Cattaraugus County man was arraigned this week on a charge of first-degree sexual abuse for an incident that occurred in the spring of 2021.

The Erie County District Attorney’s Office on Thursday announced the indictment charge for Allen D. Larkin Jr., a resident of Steamburg. He was arraigned Tuesday before State Supreme Court Justice Deborah A. Haendiges.

According to the DA’s office, Larkin, also known by the name Allen Wheeler, allegedly subjected a child under the age of 13 to sexual contact. The alleged incident occurred at a town of Brant residence.

In June of this year, the Erie County Sheriff’s Office announced they were seeking assistance from the public to locate the defendant; Larkin was arrested in Florida on a parole warrant.

Larkin is scheduled to return Monday, Oct. 24, at 2:30 p.m. for a pre-trial conference. He is currently being held without bail.

First-degree sexual abuse is a class D felony. The charge carries a sentence up to seven years in prison.
